Forcing citizens to put 8-10% of their income away for healthcare, which they may or may not require or even use during their life, is basically just mandatory insurance premiums with no guarantee of coverage. And what does GDP have to do with how much a country should spend on healthcare costs? Thats like saying the amount employees should spend on food is roughly 4% of the revenue of the business they work for.
