It's uncanny how Louis described the situation of Porsche and Forza Motorsport in his hypothetical situation with the crew. In-game music is the other killer relating to licensing. Why developers don't negotiate perpetual licences makes no sense to me. This isn't a new problem, it's been around for over a decade and all began with the music industry. Movies and games then followed not long after. You will own nothing and be happy!

It's not legal in Australia, we have some of the toughest and most robust consumer protection laws in the entire world. Any Australian would be very familiar with the concept here that certain consumer rights and protections cannot be waived or voided under any circumstances, including even if the consumer and seller both agreed to do so upfront because nearly every product has something to this effect stated so in the warranty/t&c blurb. If you're not in AU/NZ next time you buy a product over a few hundred dollars (particularly electronics such as a playstation, television, stereo etc) and it comes with one of those warranty cards that has all differing regions and countries from around the world on it.. take a look at the AU/NZ section, it might surprise you 😉

There is even mandatory text which is why us aussies are all so familiar with this, it's kinda hard to NOT see it when it's mandatory for products sold here 🤣 --- Consumers have basic rights, known as consumer guarantees, when buying products and services. These rights are under the Australian Consumer Law. Under the consumer guarantees, consumers are entitled to a repair, replacement, refund or cancellation if there’s a problem with a product or service. These consumer rights: apply automatically continue for a reasonable time depending on the product or service.

The engineer was given an opportunity to sink or swim, he sunk... why do i think this? 1) the engineer almost certainly breached NDA by publicly revealing the info he did 2) none of what the engineer said explains why only the Android app is slow but the iPhone app is fine 3) he didn't answer the question, Musk wasn't after suggestions on what the company should do, but simply what he had tried to fix it Now sure, you can say Musk has thin skin but that's not a defense for the engineer's behavior.. he picked a fight with the new owner and came off 2nd best. If ya gunna do that you better be able to back up what you're saying with actual data not just speculative "i think" and "my theories" especially after 6 years!

Not entirely true. If the product was sold with the disclaimer that some features or functionality required internet access then legally they are not in breach of Australian consumer law. "The crew" as mentioned by someone else is a classic example of this, as it was sold with the explicit condition of it being an online-only game, once the legally mandated warranty period lapses, so too does the Australian consumer law protections. Given you will still be able to print via SD card, it's unlikely you will be entitled to a refund. It's all very clear on what you are and are NOT entitled to on the official government website.. look it up if you don't believe me!

@MarianG poorly batched, not poorly written - the engineer replied with an unsubstantiated false - Musk then asked a very direct and simple question: "Twitter is super slow on Android. What have you done to fix that?" He did not address what HE had done to fix that, Musk wasn't asking for suggestions or theories

Sadly they're changing the ad delivery structure, the days of 2 ads and 15 secs minimum are ending.. yesterday, i got a series of 6 or 7 different unskippable ads for a total of 47 secs along with a little message something along the lines of "less ads for this longer segment" I mostly use the youtube app on xbox and am in the early release/beta program, when they start changing content delivery in their own apps it generally means far bigger changes for everyone are just around the corner.

Your right, as someone who has recently started looking for a new (or used) car, with a focus on either fully electric or even just hybrid (since my primary motive isnt the environment but rather a quieter ride and not having to buy gas - i have solar at home so electricity is practically free for me atm) but i was quickly disappointed with the prices. There's basically nothing reputable under 45k new and theres minimal depreciation in the 2nd hand market, the difference in prics is so little it makes no sense to buy used rather than new - for example a new hybrid rav4 is 45k, a used is 40k which is several years old and nearly out of warranty! It's such a shame as i'm likely to just end up getting another gas guzzler :(

Re maverick, unfortunately im an aussie so we don't have as many options as the US, prices for what we do get are comparable when you factor in exchange rates etc though which is good (ie we're not being ripped off cause of location) Re prices coming down, for sure they'll decrease as more large manufacturers enter the market - i guess my disappointment comes from the impression things were further along than they actually are, i concur with Louis here. he narrative is "electric cars are more affordable and accessible than ever before" which isnt strictly a lie, they're the cheapest they've ever been and theres more on the market, but they're still damn expensive compared to equivilent gas guzzlers. Take the rav4 i was looking at, i can get a new subi forester for 10k less new or 20k less used! At most i would spend $500 a year on gas, hence even the lowest ramge EV would be fine for my needs but the economics of going electric simply isn't there yet - in 10 years i'd still be down money wise!

@aquilegus they can retroactively alter contracts, however in such scenarios the consumer must be informed in advance and always has the right the cancel without penalty if they do not agree to the changes. Essentially if a company wants to alter a consumer contract they are voiding the existing one and requesting you agree to the new one. If no response is given within a reasonable time frame it's implied the consumer has agreed. On the flipside you can't force anyone to honor a contract - if that was a thing then there would be certain people who would abuse such a system, eg i sign a phone contract for $3.00 a year instead of $300.00 due to a typo, i can't force the company to give me a phone service for a whole year for $3. At best you'll just get a refund and the contract cancelled without penalty. We're not talking about contracts here though, we're not even technically talking about warranties. Warranties are voluntary and it really doesn't matter if DCS updated their t&c for their warranty. The consumer guarantees override this but more to the point, the legal action being taken is for defamation! 😁

It was a civil case ruled by a judge not a criminal one ruled by a jury, the prosecutor knew the latter would set a dangerous precedent and not succeed. My guess is the appeal will get dragged out to 2025, after the election, and the ruling will be reversed.

What i dont understand is why there is hardly any fixed garbage bins along the paths for the general public in NY... where do you say throw your empty disposable coffee cup?! In my city in the CBD there is basically always a bin within eye sight that gets emptied every day.
