When the slide starts moving backwards, the wedge system takes the stress and not the screws, however ,,when the slide comes to a stop against the frame, the optic is thrown backwards, into the wedge system,, and this time the wedge is half frame and half the screwed on part,, the optic wants to try to split that wedge ,, and here the screws for sure is what is holding the recoil,, ,, half the energy is going down into the frame, and half is hold by the screws ,,,,but two 3,5mm screws are pretty strong ,and knowing Aimpoint,,they know what they are doing,,,,
