  1. Your map is off. We have those in Washington state, as well as black widows. A few different people I know have been bitten. It is pretty bad. From what I understand the venom is quite painful, but the big problem is necrotic flesh and significant muscle loss and motion loss due to rapid atrophy.

  2. most arthropods do not have nerves like we do. That spider was probably literally incapable of feeling pain.
