  2. That's failure mode. If you did it right your son or daughter knows how to choose people of the opposite sex. Also they are sufficiently scary to creepers on their own. and probably he will be reasonable enough that your son or daughter will actually want your input and opinions on their choices. It only really be going behind your back if you've spent the previous 18 years proving yourself to be an opinionated jackass whose opinions are not worth anything.
