  1. I would really love to have a modern stocked pistol. The blowback carbines have a few detractions: 1) blowbacks have a wierd recoil impulse. They tend to have a 1.5 lb bolt due to the mass required to run with a reasonable spring rate. This is often harsher than a proper rifle. 2) blowbacks are necessarily heavy and bulky which ofsets the advantages of a pistol caliber. 3) They usually arent' rated for +P ammo, which would mitigate the weaknesses of pistol cartridges. That includes most of the anti vest ammo that makes sense in a PDW role. 4) they only work in big format. No handy pistol, that can be stocked. This kills their utility as a lightweight backpackable survival tool. i.e. A bush pilot's crash kit foraging tool. A light locked breach poly pistol with a skeletal plastic stock would maybe weigh under 3 lbs and could handle 10mm or hot 9mm ammo.
