pygmies made them... it involves scalping the head up the back to remove the skull then boiling it in a bath of herbs to clense and sterelize the organic matter and essentially leave you with a skin with hair(that's how you prevent rot, the herbs were probably astringent and/or tannic which would aid in curing.). they then crudely sow them up the back in the hair to hide the suture and dry them. it's not a secret simon... and don't worry, you're head wouldn't work due to the lack of hair, you'd probably be made into a head on a stake. wish I had a legit shrunken head... such an awesomely creepy example of human culture.
