  1. another somewhat hilarious side effect of the "no late fees" thing that I never hear mentioned was that people would just rent hard-to-find movies or games and be perfectly happy to buy them at retail value... so they lost a lot of their more lucrative stock with that move also.

  2. ya no, at the time blockbuster was a huge success and netflix was a small mail-order service. blockbuster probably would have ruined it anyways...
