  2.  @Elbrasch  I used to have a decent one til the thermostat on it went... it's not that hard to use a cast iron pan anyways and there's more surface area for the steam to escape resulting in crispier fried things.

  3. I have little issue frying pretty much anything in a large cast iron pan... as a bonus it's great for the seasoning on the pan. I can fit at least 5 onion rings in a large cast iron pan... probably more like 7... so it's essentially got the same capacity as that large fryer basket. and put the oil in an old pickle jar in the fridge, it'll keep for months >.>
