  1. meh, I add the salt after the water comes to a boil because of the supposed lower boiling point so I'm sure the water is sufficiently hot. even if it doesn't lower the boiling point it makes it look like it is and I use my eyes to judge when water is boiling. edit: and I don't add it sooner because it's easier to dissolve things in hot water...
