though I actually watched a more law-related video on this... and had they been present and monitoring the traps it would have been legal... so if you were present and chasing a trespasser through your pirate dungeon it would probably be fine. they probably would have been better off claiming they had no knowledge of the shotgun citing the numerous break ins as evidence...
