"to determine how homes and household items could be made to withstand nuclear bombs" conclusion: they can't. everyone will die. "to determine if we can use nuclear weapons to excavate ground for civilian purposes" conclusion: we can't. everyone will die.

"Janibekov's rotating nut has caused astonishment" oh ladies~

if you've ever touched one you'd know it's not plastic(or looked at the price tag).

the nature of infinity means you'll eventually come to a larger number that will evenly divide back to 1, as the number one is the unit all numbers are based upon. 1000 is 1000 1s. it's all 1. it's like asking if there's a number you can multiply by 1 that won't remain the same.
2
if only someone was allowed to weaponize space we could have nuclear scale explosions with no fallout...
2
@Napoleonic_S are you sure you weren't looking at a bunker?
2
ah yes, who could forget the classic stupidity of bowling ball versus axe... oh that's right, me; because I never watched it and don't care to.
2
"the trees need the oxygen" oh... I see...
2
cuz I'm sure those nutrients in the goldenrod didn't break down at all over 100+ years... and obviously if your food is less nutrient dense you have to eat more of it, people will probably start to evolve to eat more in general if the trend continues long term.

today, on large weight channel!
1
wouldn't that have been a thing if you crashed the helicopter with a parachute...
1
people who say "urine us" to avoid saying "uranus" are hilarious.
1
@Electroposit no he's not. there's no i in uranus. it's clearly uranus, not urinis. even if it was meant to be urinis it's been common vernacular as uranus for long enough now that it makes it the correct way to say it.
1
it might be "on"... but it's producing so little light it's more of a heater >.>
1
bit of a ballsy thing to do...
1
@oscarin13 I'm talking about kinetic impact type weapons.
1
that last one is hardly a physics problem, it's a knot trick lol.
1
wtf is a 1/c second? none of the above...
1
so the energy density is the same everywhere... but different on the surface?
1
time to start another controversy?
1
obviously you can't swim in the drinking water... but what's to stop birds from shitting in it?
1
could have sworn I'd seen someone light thermite with a torch before... probably has something to do with the particle size. maybe that's also why it was "surging" so much.
1
actually the moon samples do react with oxygen, when they brought the container containing them back into the spacecraft they reacted gave off a sulfur type smell. no fire tho.
1
paper straws are just a bad idea...
1
I only see the small one oscillate back and forth... the big one it's kinda the opposite and you just pass through it all weird like. I think it's because I can track the 2 points holding it up and there's more points of reference, if it was held up by a single point like the small one it'd be better.
1
"make a bunch of passwords and don't even remember what they are! that way we can hold your online life ransom for sub fees!"
1
@Nevermore I just remember my passwords... works great, never had an issue.
1
how does that in any way prove superposition?
1
or maybe people are just too polite to say they don't trust some random guy on the street claiming to be offering a "fair bet"... that guy trying to eat his lunch won't even tell you to get lost ffs.
1
blood letting is still kinda a legitimate medical thing in the right situation... it's just not a cure-all like people once thought.
1
@magnusorn7313 you could say the same thing for any medical procedure... most are only relevant in a small handful of situations. you could say "well hip surgery is only needed in like 0.0001% of situations" but that doesn't make it any less legitimate.
1
I mean... you could have just strapped some sort of small drag chute to the rod to make it drop straight.
1
y learn anything? it always ends up being wrong...
1
you did it outside... sooo invalid.
1
they also use a chain stitch to close bags of animal feed so they can be easily opened...
1
thought "airplane mode" just put the phone on vibrate so it doesn't bother anyone lol
1
how does that break any laws? it's using external energy... it's just recovering some of it to add more forward momentum... that explanation sucks.... "it goes faster because it slows down the wind"? why not just say the fan is blowing backwards producing additional thrust? it doesn't significantly slow down the craft because the wind is magnitudes larger in scale and still going the same speed so unless there's so much drag that it can't move it'll eventually reach the speed of the wind. I swear scientists are some of the most close-minded people you'll ever come across.
1
@JohnTavastian pretty sure u got it backwards.
1
@JohnTavastian he specifically says at like 17:50 it works like a fan.
1
@JohnTavastian at what point does he say the fan is working like a sail?
1
why even bother if you're just reposting content?
1
if they can go to over 100% power then someone did a pretty poor job of measuring the maximum power I'd say...
1
I'm not saying it's aliens... but.
1
pretty sure texas instruments started out making various analog computers for business
1
so basically it builds up oscillations due to not being perfectly rotated until it becomes enough to flip it over and the inertia of rotation catches it again? your explanation would have it flipping back and forth constantly, but it doesn't.
1
I mean, you're also bad at sewing...
1
what? there are laws against putting weapons in space... even the paper you've quoted says "nuclear weapons or any other kinds of weapons of mass destruction". pretty sure this counts as a weapon of mass destruction...
1
wtf kind of scale is that? the distance between 10, 100, 1000, etc is all the same. >.> how can you expect me to take your opinion on technical maters seriously when you can't even make an accurate scale?! and did that old guy say asphyxicate?
1
ya, no... I fully understood the concept that a boat can only match the speed of the wind... the 5 minute explanation of that speed and wind is wasn't needed.
1
ya, they did the same thing with LED bulbs too lol... they could make them so they last forever but instead they over-drive the LEDs so they burn out in like a year >.> and never buy a phone with an internal battery...
