  3. also known as sleigh bells... I'd figured the main purpose of bells is to warn wild animals your coming. most wild animals attack because they get scared or startled. even if your hiking it's good to make some noise, most animals will run as soon as they hear you.

  4. most of the world does or did that at some point with whatever large non-toxic leaves are available. fig and burdock leaves are/were also common.

  9. fig leaves. and I believe burdock leaves in northern regions... banana leaves in the tropics maybe? basically any large leaf that isn't toxic.
