everyone thinks they have the best screw... square ones are best tho, phillips strip way too easily because of that slipout thing.

seems like they'd already be viable to shoot down nukes... even if you could only fire it once, you can only fire a missile once.

@2Truth4Liberty somewhat, but less because the angle is better. sure they can still strip, but out of the 3 common heads(at least here in canada) they're easily the best and I'm not using torque screws to build something simple like a doghouse...

so we could actually tether something to the earth with a tower of carbon fiber about 90 meters in diameter?

1
it's just a big railgun...
1
@TheSouthernSiren you've just seen 2 of them aimed at each other :P edit: also it's more accurately a coil gun I suppose.
1
I mean ya... this whole time I'm thinking "sure this working in open air"...
1
something about a man wearing a thawb doing sciencey things... just can't take it seriously.
1
this isn't a vehicle anymore... it's a horizontal space launch.
1
nuclear power was supposed to provide clean energy so cheap they'd be giving it away...
1
for appearances sake?
1
I could do a gradient on a new layer in photoshop when I was a kid... didn't need to pay anyone to tell me how... wasn't hard.
1
or in reality they figure out exactly how strong something needs to be to work and use the absolute least amount of materials to make it so the second it experiences any hiccup in operation it breaks and requires replacement...
1
I swear if you say underwater turbans...
1
a material they had to smuggle in from the soviet union under a bunch of BS guises... that's a more interesting story.
1
