  4. this is the problem with these opinions... you can't produce food on a commercial scale with permaculture and you don't need to destroy the land to produce things on a commercial scale. there are time tested techniques to produce food on an industrial level in a reasonable sustainable way... they just aren't as productive as those destructive ways... but people still practice those methods.

  6.  @john3_14-17  things like crop rotation and fallowing the land, using manures as fertilizers and to rebuild soil structure, not over-spraying pesticides, things like that. it's been known for a long time that over-plowing and over-spraying isn't a good thing and a responsible farmer tries to avoid them as much as they can.

  10.  @castlebravo2023  well yes, but then when you turn the wood into charcoal it releases a lot of that carbon again. also soil can be blackish from organic matter too, think of black earth you can buy in bags, it's not charcoal dirt. so I'm kinda thinking yes and no.

  22. didn't someone figure out a while ago if we just made all the roads and parking lots white they'd reflect enough light to pretty much negate the loss of glaciers?
