most of the grocery stores around here have little bakeries in them making "fresh" bread. they probably still get it shipped in pre-mixed and frozen and just stick it in the oven, but it's better than that "sandwich bread" as you call it.

there are a lot of menonites(like canadian amish i guess?) not to far from where I am and some are more strict about their lifestyle than others. they make some damn good smoked summer sausage tho.

wait... so you pay 0.5% interest on loans, but the bank pays for 3% on deposits? so, why not just take out the biggest loan you can and put it in the bank? you'd be making 2.5% on interest...

you can totally still buy them, they're still used in some places. people who are good with them can supposedly use them about as effectively as a calculator.
