I guess parents just have 0 accountability anymore... back when I was growing up your parents just told you not to share personal info online. they're gonna have to change this somewhat or it'll literally break the internet. there's no way to tell who's on the device at the other end so if trusting the user isn't good enough then everyone on the internet will have to be treated as a child. that pretty much kills every social media platform, forum, or any other form of online interaction.

  2. netflix doesn't advertise... it's a suggestion from their own offerings within that service. or in some cases a preview of something they intend to provide in the future.
