  1. well the type ball seems to be spring loaded to return to a defined starting position after each character, so it's not like it needs to actually track it's position or anything... it's just like a table of rotation values and probably a stepper motor.

  2. lol I remember old typewriters hanging around too... it was fun to mash all the keys at once and see how many of the little fingers you could get to jam together.
