  1. there are things you can only really do on a gas stove though, due to the cycling of the elements on electric ones... those moca pot coffee makers come to mind.

  4. and the stove is almost definitely on 240v power... so I guess it's not all about the voltage. that being said, you'd think they could easily make an oven with a 240v outlet built into it for kettles...
