I do that too... it's how my parents always did it. idk how else people are draining their tuna :P

@JS-wc4xs I've never seen "pouch tuna"... but I'd imagine it's more expensive and has other additives to not need canning.

first off... who cares about sharp edges? are you reaching into cans of soup to grab out some sort of prize? I've never had an issue. nor with the lip other than on pull-tab cans which isn't a can opener so not really a point. I always found these type of can openers silly. they offer no significant advantage over traditional can openers while being more complicated, harder to clean and any I've seen use a lot more plastic in their construction so less durable.
