Yikes!!! That sounds terrible.

Too bad it isn't sustainable and is bankrupting cities/ destroying the environment. Your suburban dream is unattainable and unsustainable. Sorry!

To me, suburbs are an incredibly toxic environment with dull and boring people not to mention unattractive housing and sprawling asfault. There's NOTHING "green" about them despite what suburbanites say. They are ecologically destructive and unsustainable. Hong Kong is a gross exaggeration of what a city is like. It's highly dense due to space and urban planning, not to mention expense.
2
But, they do own their own house/ apartments. Plus, your "suburban dream" is unsustainable and a nightmare for the city and environment. That's the point of this whole video.

@torreyance2468 No they don't! suburbs don't turn into cities and old American towns which are now cities, were never suburbs. You're very wrong about that. Ghost towns in Europe happened due to dying industry's, war and financial down turns. That being said most towns in Europe are still occupied till this day.

What the fuck are you talking about? You sound delusional and stupid.

@calcyiteslashmaster2174 how so? Taking a walk down Manchester, England or in Paris, France is far more exciting and stimulating than driving round a culdesac with the exact same houses and lawns. You can go into a bakery, walk in a green park, go into an art store and genuinely admire the unique and historic architecture as opposed to looking at a series of green lawns and mcmansion's. I'd rather live in either of those two cities than in a dull, American suburb.

@calcyiteslashmaster2174 the reason cities in america are in the stare they are in now is because of de- industrialisation and suburban funding. Cities pay a lot so suburbanites can live in a sprawled neighbourhood, they allocate a lot of funds to accommodate suburban areas. If they didn't they could once again pay into much needed social programs, better architecture and upkeep in general. The crisis in cities is a result of faulty and sometimes greedy policy making, not cities themselves. Sorry, but most American suburbs are ugly. Why the hell would I want to live in a crappy mcmansion???? I'd settle for a brown stone or tenement flat anyday. Point to one building in an American city that looks identical to another, with the exception of some low income flats most of them have their own style of architecture. Most houses in the suburbs are literally identical, from the shape to the maternal used. If by landscaping you mean bland green lawns then sure, suburbia is full of those.

Urban sprawl in Canada is terrible!!!!!

Suburbia can't thrive without the cities, the cities literaly pay for them. If you actually watched the video you would know that. I don't see how it a inhuman to live in a highly dense/ populous region. Humans have been doing so for millenia, just look at Europe or Asia.
1
@chiragmakwana8171 I mean in the sense that dense living was the norm, maybe not an actual large city but a town or hamlet. If you look at old medieval paintings of Europe, you notice how urban development prioritised density over sprawl. Economically and socially it made more sense. American suburbs aren't as ideal as you'd think, they certainly aren't comparable to living in a rural village or homestead.
1
@chiragmakwana8171 cities are and always will be part of human life and living. Suburbia is failing experiment that has barely lasted 60 years. It's built on an unsustainable model of sprawl and consumption. How is it elitist to point out the failed model of suburbs and how they are draining cities of resources and funds??
1
No one can afford to live in the suburbs plus it's bankrupting cities. To me, American suburbs are hideous and unattractive. They're nothing but asphalt and grass, not to mention cramped and cheap mcmansions. I'd rather live in a European town or city.
1
Sorry about that!
1
That will unfortunately never happen. Many suburbanites are entitled and want to live the "high life", which is why they demand city infrastructure and maintenance. Despite the fact that they don't even live in one.

Uniquely inefficient and ugly!
