Not always, rural poverty has increased and so has rural crime. Blaming everything on liberals/liberal run cities does a disservice to the many poor, rural and conservative voters who on average, live in abject poverty. The right just want to focus on the many issues facing blue states, and believe me there are many, but ignore those same problems when they are present in their backyards. This way, they can ignore the dwindling material conditions of their constituence and pretend like all America's problems exist solely in cities or blue states, meanwhile many of their poor voters are dying younger than ever, have an ever increasing mortality rate, are becoming more and more illiterate and are financially unstable.
