I live on the coast and there is hardly any polution here, not even in the 1970's. We have been lied to for decades, just like about climate. Governments use it all to roll out more control and so they can tax more.
Every day the beach is cleaned by the local counsel in Summer also, so it don't end up inmthe sea.
Now they have attached the cap to the bottles, because the caps ended up in nature they said, which is absolute nonsense. 95% of bottles are used at home and even the 5% don't end up in nature either. Ever seen people throwing away the cap in nature and the bottle in the bin? Of course not.
Same with plastic straws, never come across them in nature, but the government says they all end up in there. So, is someone collecting straws at fastfood restaurauts and throwing them in nature?
That said, I rather don't use plastics at all. I have glass and stainless steal straws, I don't want plastic in my mouth. I have always brought my own bags when shopping even 40 years ago. Almost everybody did 40 years ago or more, than suddenly shops started using plastic bags, which was nuts.
When we still had our local grocery shop, everybody had their own bags, you brought your jars to he refilled with honey, the milkman had glass bottles, baker used paper bags for the bread, but then in the 1960 the supermarket arose and from then on you saw more and more plastics being used.
That is where it went wrong with the advance of supermarkets and the American fastfood companies which spread across the globe made it even worse. They not only kade lots of people fat, but what a waste they produce, it is insane!
