  2. 1) japans early animation was inspired by early American animation before evolving into a style all their own, you can see it in early 50s 60s animation. 2) its simply because they draw them to look 'exotic', meaning to look foreign, even if the character is technically Japanese. You will rarely see a character in Japanese animation that looks stereotypically Japanese.
