its how it is with most games, they feel hard when inexperienced, even if they claim the games been "dumbed down", its rarely ever the case.

making something harder doesnt make it better, and theres a difference between gear checks and skill checks. if you sit and chase the top 10% of your playerbase only, you start to erode your overall playerbase because everyone has their own skill level. once people begin to think the game is no longer for them, they will quit and it can be difficult to convince them to come back. you need a healthy balance of difficulty. never put all your eggs in one basket, and hard nosed difficulty snobs never seem to understand that what they want is extremely harmful to the long term health of a game.
