@teodor4ik183 - The also reduce horsepower and fuel mileage on a two-stroke. They add back pressure that keeps the exhaust from fully escaping and reduces the amount of new mix being drawn in. It "chokes" the motor by mixing exhaust with the new charge. There is a type of exhaust that increases both, called a tuned pipe. That uses the shock waves to cancel each other and creates a vacuum at the exhaust ports. It also makes it a lot louder.

It doesn't have to work or even be realistic. Russia has three armed forces inside its borders and will have to bring in enough force to counter all of them and any potential reinforcements. They have to treat it as the vanguard of an army or an army is what they'll get. It'll create chaos in their transport and logistical systems and tie up a lot of people and equipment that will then be left in a useless place and have to be moved again.

@М.Столић - What they say is propaganda. They don't really expect to take Moscow either. What they're really trying to do is not public information. Russia always claims to have wiped out every attack of any kind. No matter what the reality on the ground is, they're full of shit this time too.

Rubble and crossroads are all there is in this war. The "higher" ground and forest don't change hands much as they're too easy to defend and too hard to attack.

Cutting through the border may be obvious, but the Russians didn't fortify it and have no major forces in the area. There are no prepared defenses for Ukraine to walk into. They can't be strong everywhere, and the Ukrainians have picked a place where they aren't. There's nothing stupid about hitting your opponent where his guard is down.
