  1. I worked under a manager that honeymooned in Beirut in the late 1960s. I saw photos that showed it like the French Riviera – with Rolls-Royce, E-types and Ferrari Dino etc parked in the streets. The people were GLAMOROUS and a variety of ethnicities.

  3. Socialism has always harboured VERY unpleasant undercurrents in all societies. There is no shame having "left-wing tendencies" that are moderate. But the modern face of socialism is revealed in the creatures that inhabit Novara Media and the BBC, and encapsulated in "woke" ideology (which needs to be called-out for what it is: c o m m u n i s m). As the great socialist (NB. infallible socialist) George Galloway says: "scratch a liberal, and underneath you'll find a fascist". I have always argued for a two state solution. The West hasn't the leadership (it has succumbed to idiocy and fallen to American bigtech/private equity/MIC/etc.) Maybe others in emerging global influence can mediate an end to the lunacy that has blighted parts of the near east. (Just keep the damnable American neocons and NATO out of it?)
