They knew the GBD were correct. But, it never stopped them. The real question is why?

VDH is a towering intellect. So much wisdom. U K Column is also an outstanding source of referenced news analysis and commentary.

@ausforaus7617 …another way of saying the road to hell being paved with good intentions, I guess.

– Scott, it was the wrong platform for someone like Peter Hitchens. Those involved had no interest at all of i) listening to his opinion ii) understanding his rationale. There is a large risk in "mobilising public opinion" to manipulate government policy. WMD and the Iraq invasion the most lethal example.

@6519-e5x You mean they don't align with your biases.

He was the one that promoted Common Porpoise into the workings of all public services and primarily the police services.

@aubreyheartburn Just remember Audrey: this rubbish is in our faces because the NuLabour apparatchiks run the MSM (especially the tv, and in particular the free-to-air tv) and run the public sector. BUT, as last November's G/Election revealed, it has no traction with the masses. This government must choose its fights. But hopefully, in the lifetime of this government (across two parliaments) there will be a claw-back to more normality in some shape or other. Boris and his party are liberals in the proper meaning of the word. They are not blind to the sentiments of people like you. Starkey in an online Sun interview regarding Boris' election victory (at 46:20 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7Yzy6Rqrmc&t=2783s) explains 'the rump' of Labour's vote being reduced to a few within the black and Muslim community. The decriminalising of the license fee is most pressing. Just don't lose heart; the vast majority in the UK are 'c'onservative (small 'c').

Male friends in the UK have been saying to me for 3 decades that 'family law' and strident feminism have made them feel commitment and having children wasn't for them – that they'd be on a hiding to nothing. I think this needs talking about?

The Palestinians might (given the chance). But the heightened hatred through 60 years of fighting – aided by Iran and (historically) Syria – make it increasingly difficult. Israel is a very divided country that homes a lot of peaceful and prospering arabs. The real truth is that the surrounding arab countries do not care about Palestinians anymore than NATO and the West care about ordinary Ukrainians. It does NOT take much effort to deep-dive into the history of the Palestinian struggle; and it would be a reason for those so anxious to express their ignorance on the matter to do some research of their own. Peace ✌🏻🕊🇮🇪☘

He's a wise head, for sure.

Kalergi Plan.

@Kirk Fletcher – Those people will get neither.

He sure is. But is it right that the DNP (and the tech/MSM/pharma/ Chinese billionairs behind it) in effect chooses who leads the GoP?

I agree with George Galloway on so much; but even George with his admirably high principles is (and I believe he knows it himself) selective in how he presents the situation in that region. Exterior interference has used and sacrificed Palestinian blood for FAR TOO LONG. We know who the bad actors have been, presently and historically. Israel and Palestinians deserve their own historic divide of land, security and peace. Picking sides in this argument is frankly demeaning. ✌🏻🕊🇮🇪☘

The issues are complex and far from black and white. So, I agree with you.

@AlexanderDunetz Whereas The Brookings Institute???

🎯 Never heard of happy people living under totalitarian rule. Capitalism has to be made to work: eg. the rich need to pay their taxes, rule of law applying equally and affordable to EVERYONE. Opportunity and equality has never co-existed; but capitalism did it better than communism.

Me too.

Capitalism failed? Then vote for WEF Agenda30. Own nothing? (Well, someone will own "it") Be happy? (Get real?) Never heard of happy people living under totalitarian rule. Capitalism has to be made to work: the rich need to pay their taxes, rule of law applying equally and affordable to EVERYONE. Opportunity and equality has never co-existed; capitalism did it better than communism.

Land was gained and lost constantly in the Bronze Age and continuing into the Iron Age and LATER. (Consider The Battle of Kadesh ~ 1274 BC.) The stories of the Old Testament are of no relevance in deciding the legality of notional boundaries. And, by the way, the early Jewish nation was as hostile then as others are today. King David was no peacemaker. So let us ALL get real for a moment about this: Israel has a right (an equal right) just as do the Palestinians to their own land, and to their security. Israel has behaved appallingly in my lifetime (7th decade now) concerning Palestinians. But, Palestinians are not blameless, and have suffered dreadful leadership and intolerable outside interference from Iran and Syria (principally). It is a mess. No easy answers. But murdering innocent civilians by WHICHEVER side is wholly unforgivable.

@I_Don_t_want_a_handle Yes! (Jon NOT John.)

I suspect large swathes of the public have sensed what was being threatened, and hence populism found its expression in the form of Trump and Brexit ie. a rejection of globalism, and a return to localism and something comparably democratic.

20 years younger for it?

The "masses" are not part of the "elites" plans.

ALL the issues around the links of family and child development have been kicked around for at least 50 years. Yet, despite what socialists like Blair have said in support of the advantages to children of a stable home with both parents present, it is the same 'liberal'(?) voices that continue to deny what is plainly the truth of it.

We ALL know what is right and good. The 'culture war' is a construct to draw in idiots and the self-loathers?

@fionagregory8078 My mistake and corrected (thankyou). I assure you, my spelling is ordinarily the equal of any.

The Guardian in mind perhaps?

@golden.lights.twinkle2329 What a bizarre and wrongful assertion. Think of all the words banned on this site ALONE to realise the absolute imprudence of what you are saying. Just consider how the use of words have resulted in cases of defamation? Words are extremely powerful. Take these three words and consider how they have resonated down the decades: "I have a dream…"
1
His criticism of E.P. was way off target. The wet dream of multiculturalism is revealed YET AGAIN to be a wet nightmare after so many warnings across many decades. The 'Left' can't bear facing up to their collective foolishness. Powell was prescient.
1
She's correct. This has been the real purpose of the 'culture wars'.
1
Hence the rise in populism and the threat it posed to the globalist plan for world governance.
