  2. Rain Bow - So did Connecticut, But if you want less expensive real estate in CT, don’t look in Fairfield County. (That the the southwestern part of the state nearest NYC.) You should be able to find decent houses for around $300K or so in the other seven counties.

  8. Michael Anderson - I am just curious, mainly because they don’t seem that different from Wisconsin, which made Briggs’ list. I wish Briggs gave a quick “honorable mention” to states that just missed the Top 10, and these two states sound like they would be among those.

  11. Adam Buesser - I would avoid the cities, especially Hartford, and New Haven. Most of the suburbs are pretty nice and have low levels of crime.
