  1.  @dirkditmer453  it's always later or afterwards or when we're a bit older that we realise and start to regret not doing so. I remember my grandfather who had been in the 🇬🇧 RFC. He was in the an aircraft crash and invalided out. Wish, wish WISH I'd been old enough to ask him how and where etc. He died aged 75 and, apparently, was in a usable kind of straight jacket his whole life onwards from the crash. He mustve been in PAIN, I never knew til after he'd gone.

  3.  @brandonmurray9448  : From 🇬🇧. Tis a fact that the 🇺🇸 arrived in the 🇬🇧 in two separations. The white gi's, and the black Gi's. They were barrack Ed separately and the British were shocked at the way the 🇺🇸 whites and police treated their black 'brothers in arms'. Was also a fact that the coloureds were allocated mainly support battalions, ie. away from guns. A situation which persisted right up until the middle/latter years of the Vietnam War, I believe.

  4. My pal, George Frith, from Matlock, 🇬🇧 Derbyshire was with 8th Airlandinding Command, Staff Sgt Driver. Went over on the late afternoon of 6/6/44. They were all held up at Ranville Wood, where they engaged with 12SS HJ, until overcoming, where they found the bstrd who been firing into their mess/ablutions etc - tied into a tree. On the lads marched on to Troufluer/Honfleur.
