  1. There would be no conflict without West's involvement. The whole thing was engineered to eventually lead to the conflict, so I doubt that so called West just turn the reverse gear (which they don't have) or stop. Most likely they'll just double down to escalate further, so they can distract froim the growing internal problems and shift the blame for escalation from themselves (like they already did a year ago).

  2. Speaking in your terms - NATO expanded, though that they have a bigger stick and decided to occupy even more land, knowing perfectly well that it will lead to the war, but did it anyway...cause they thought they have a bigger stick.
