Ben that's one that always puzzles me. We aren't afraid of them. We're repulsed, freaked out, whatever. I think it goes to the core of what we know about ourselves and the world. It's a visceral reaction. But I'm not afraid of them. (Unless a man goes into the women's restroom and there are little girls in there. That scares me!)

@ObsidianCrocodile I don't know if I could say that mental cruelty isn't always as bad as violence, but it is definitely not the same as physical violence. Physical violence is a different thing. I suppose they could have similar emotional effects on a person but they are NOT the same thing. So we definitely agree on that.

@jessoliver2955 No. And my lip wasn't ripped open by words. My eye wasn't blackened because of words. I'v never witnessed a word giving a concussion. I have, however, noticed a word bruise an ego. Maybe that is the source of Madam's confusion.

@jessoliver2955 LOL Okay. Just don't hit me! I do know the difference. Are you young? Not that it is any of my business, but I am 60 this year so I am one of the people who thinks, "Well, when I was a kid..." I feel sorry for the young people who do know the difference and are faced with this situation. God bless you.

@anairenemartinez165 Still, words are not violence. Not the same thing. Many things can lead to violence. We can't ban them all.

Ariel--that scares me so much! I saw a little girl go into the women's restroom in a store in California. A few minutes later a man dressed as a woman went in. I followed him in just to stand there and make sure that little girl was unharmed. Unbelievable! I mean, I'm usually armed, I'm an adult and if I have to go potty that much--I'll take care of myself. But a little girl---NO.

@ManeatingSandwich Hey! I'm a teacher! Hi! But I teach at a Catholic school and I can actually send my kids out "Ladies first," and I can have my boys carry heavier things. And here's what intrigues me: The boys take to it quickly. It's as though they appreciate having the job. And I make my girls say "Thank you."
