I didn't know him and never encountered him. My younger sister was his year I think. Regardless, I look back on that relatively innocent time of my life and think, "Eeeeeew. He walked those halls." How disconcerting.

This beautiful old hotel was getting trashed. Thugs, criminal types, trash everywhere, it was so sad. I felt bad because of course, I want people to have a safe place to sleep at night but to trash this beautiful, iconic old hotel--it was so sad.

You see and hear someone who is clearly disingenuous, and yet Netflix is giving her money, she is married to a prince, people hand her microphones to talk and you think, “Wait.   44. I think she is making sure there will be nothing to object to later. I think an appeal lawyer will try to argue that the defendant wasn't given his rights. A lawyer will argue that the defendant's personality is irrelevant, and that he has certain rights. This lawyer has to make absolutely sure that she gives him ever opportunity possible. However--to lie, attack the victim, try to get a dangerous person back on the streets, to not allow a person to face their actions and accept responsibility--that is my problem. If it was the affair that drove CW to annihilate his family, does it stand to reason that he was predisposed to that kind of behavior and if it wasn't NK, then someone or something else would likely have come along and prompted him to kill his family?

  135. This makes so much sense to me. I teach 4th grade. I do my best to keep the kids moving: writing a bit, up and running, moving to a different part of the classroom, sitting again, writing, back up, etc. Sometimes I tell them to take a deep breath and I'm going to ask them to complete an assignment and then we will go outside. It is hard to do and I know it isn't perfect but it is the best I can do under the circumstances. When I ask this kids to tell me what they did over the weekend, so often they tell me that they played video games.   It is frustrating.

You can be panicked "by" something or something can cause panic in an individual. You are using the word "panic" incorrectly. I know this not because I have "explored my mind," but because I have studied the English language and grammar. What I think you mean is that some people find fetishes disturbing and have a visceral reaction and you take exception to that. Since I am one who feels disturbed by fetishes, and I have explored my mind about my reaction, I think I feel disturbed because it is not what our bodies are intended to do. I say "intended" because I am a Christian and I believe that God made us with intention and I have no reason to believe He intended us to have some of this fetishes. I believe they are disorders I agree that these fetishes are likely the result of "cross-wiring" caused by sexual trauma in early life. I don't know this for sure, but since I have now explored my mind, it makes sense to me. I could be wrong about this. Here is my question: Does indulging a disorder help anything? In my opinion, it could not help reduce the disorder. I suspect it would only make it worse and it would take more and more pain/shoes/whatever to satisfy the disordered craving or fetish. However, I don't know that psychology has a remedy for these disorders. If there is no known way that these people can be made normal and healthy, then perhaps indulging their disorders in a safe way, is perhaps a relatively helpful thing that is protecting innocent children and other people who might be victims of their fetishes. I don't know. I also question the motivation of a fetish worker. I don't believe the main goal is to help people. I think the main goal is survival and making a living. I suspect that if these workers had another viable and more socially acceptable way to earn a living, they would do so. I also suspect that a fetish worker is likely also the victim of childhood sexual trauma. Therefore I can't say that, if these disorders are incurable, then who is to say that a sexually disordered person indulging another sexually disordered person for money is really a terrible thing? It might not be ideal and healthy but perhaps it is a lesser or least of evils. If anyone has actually read this entire thing I would be shocked.

  170. So sad. Hard to believe it is true. It is interesting to me that these people see the police as the enemy. I have known many police officers who feel so terrible about arresting people who obviously had no chance in life. I've had officers come talk to me and, it's like they just want someone to talk to. I see how burdened they are and how it pains them to see so many people that they can't help, and they have to arrest because, a.) it's the law and b.) someone is going to get hurt or killed. I imagine the police officer who arrested her when she was only 14 --can you imagine? And there was nothing he could do to help her. Just hope against hope that an arrest might scare her enough to keep her off the streets. Again, I am in no way minimizing her experience. I'm just thinking about other people who are involved. Like her mother---no excuses whatsoever--but for a mother to do that to her own daughters, that is one sick mother. Mothers don't do that unless they are somehow deeply damaged themselves. So these problems go on and on, destroying generation after generation and causing all kinds of collateral damage like the people they've robbed or killed for drugs, the police officers who are helpless. Still I am grateful to be able to hear these stories so I know what is really going on.

My point is that in most of the cases that I have seen, young girls who get pregnant, especially when the father is unknown, have a troubled background. He is a good, decent man, but I can see how he must have grown weary of arresting the same types of people over and over again. I have never had a problem with police so they don't make me nervous. I've been pulled over for a tail light, too, but, fair enough, my tail light was out. I don't really blame police for being hard and callous considering what they put up with every day, how dangerous their jobs and the lack of respect they get.

Actually, I was pulled over years ago in San Diego. I was young and pretty and driving home from work on a deserted stretch of highway. I saw the police lights in my rear view mirror and was scared to pull over on that dark stretch of highway. So I pulled off at the next freeway exit where there were some lights and people. The officer said I was going 4 miles over the speed limit and asked me to get out of the car. I thought that was strange but I did it. He give me kind of a drunk test and then said I had beautiful eyes and then let me go with a warning. It was really strange. He turned out to be Officer Craig Peyer who was pulling over girls in that area and had actually killed one girl. I'm so glad I kept driving and pulled over in a well lit area.

In my years of experience as a teacher, I find that most of us are doing our best but it is impossible when you get a student with an angry, hostile attitude like yours. I’m guessing you are young and never had any real responsibility, never really tried to contribute to society in a meaningful way. You probably resent anyone trying to make you do something you don’t want to do, something you might find difficult. The easiest thing for you to do is criticize and mock others so you can feel, at least temporarily superior. You blame others for your failures and inadequacies. I can’t imagine any other kind of person who would criticize people, like most teachers, who are trying to help and do something positive with their lives. I think it is important that we do more than just collect food for the homeless. I wanted them to be part of the process.   577.  @Migman-d3m  She does have a couple of times he was arrested but then she bailed him out. I think she totally killed him. I don't think she intended to but she did it and is responsible. I don't know how the prosecution could prove premeditation. I think they could maybe prove negligent homicide. She is a walking, breathing disaster. The weirdest thing is that her ex-husband seems fairly normal.

  579.  @Baylorbetterthanbrown  Okay, here's what I'm thinking--I've been drunk before and I did things that I didn't remember doing. (Nothing bad, thankfully, just kind of stupid.) Later, when someone reminded me, it all came back to me and I felt foolish. So---yes, she is totally responsible. She should be held accountable. I believe she is a damaged and evil person. But I'm just wondering how the legal system looks at it. If she truly doesn't remember doing it, can the defense prove that and try to use it? I mean---they shouldn't! Don't get me wrong. She did it. I don't care if she was drunk. She is responsible. She killed him and showed no regard for his suffering. Does that make sense. I don't really disagree with you.

Did you hear the interview with the neighbor? It interesting because he lived right next door and heard what seems to be the suitcase going down stairs after and few minutes of silence.

Or do you think she had him in the suitcase, realized he might die and took the opportunity to kill him?

  598.  @marylougeorge9890  It was scary! Talk about a bad cop! I was just thinking, I live in Texas now and I got my concealed carry license a few years ago. I think it gives me confidence. Not that I feel safe carrying a gun around because I really don't, but I have been pulled over and showed the cop my concealed carry license and they automatically know that I am no threat to them. in other words, I can quickly prove that I am not a problem. The officer didn't even give me a ticket and I absolutely deserved one. I was going too fast. Also, I used to work a night shift at a gym and the cops would always tell me to call if I ever needed anything or self uncomfortable with any of the guys in the gym. So I guess I've had experience with both good cops and bad cops.

  599.  @ItsJustAmeliaNow_12  Why would I do what? The only time the police have been to my house was one time my front door wasn't locked and it flew open. The police drove by and were checking out. No. I take that back. I called them one time because I knew there was a young woman with three guys in a nearby apartment. They all had rotted out teeth so I figured maybe they were using. That's fine. I'm sad about it, but that's their choice. But---I heard the girl screaming "Get off of me!" so I called and the police came and I told them about the situation and that I was worried about her.

  600. Maybe because I was raised around law enforcement so I know these guys. Most of them are just regular guys. With all the problems, situations, weaknesses, and strengths that we all have. I'm on the side of ANYONE who stands between me and total chaos. God bless our police. EMTs, fire fighters, military, all the men who work on behalf their communities.

  603. I felt like the judge and prosecution were ready to jump when she was on the stand. I felt like they were protective of Erika and were watching Brooks extra closely when he was questioning her. They knew how hard it was for her to get up there and testify. This is just my perception while watching the trial.

Still, I think if I was a man and my ex wife thought my son might kill her--I think I would intervene even though I wasn't legally obligated to do so. But if a man hated his son and ex-wife so much, and he didn't HAVE to intervene--I guess I can see why he wouldn't.

  605. I am okay with her release. I think she is no longer a danger to society. She did commit heinous crimes under the brainwashing of Manson and for that she is responsible. However, there are many people who have committed heinous crimes and been paroled and definitely continue to be a threat to society. I'm not worried about Van Houten stabbing anyone in the back now.

  606. Wow! This is interesting. Question: Did you never consider the fact that there is no evidence, archeological or otherwise, to back the story of Hebrew people in the Americas at that time? I'm not being critical. But I'm Christian and I struggle with the Resurrection and the evidence of Christ's time on earth--I want to know that what I'm believing is true, or a least has some evidence backing it. It is hard for me understand why someone wouldn't want to know.

  607.  @-tikla  I agree that you need to have faith. I would add to that "Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope..." Based on the words and accounts we have of the life of Jesus, I am able to make that leap of faith and believe in the miracle of the resurrection. I believe we have good evidence, written as well as archeological. Some people hear and see this evidence and are not able to take that leap of faith. The way I see it, the Mormons have little evidence for their beliefs. They have the word of one man but nothing else.
