  4. You already know why companies are using "contractors": To get the work done without the risk of a union forming that they have to bargain with. This arrangement made it so these two deaths won't have any impact on Delta. "Labor" is expendable, and Delta gets to say 'tisk tisk' and walk away from two dead men.

Then you will understand that employers have a duty to monitor their employees and ensure their safety. After that, think about what “training” actually means. Training an employee is not the same as instructing an employee. You can tell your kid to brush his teeth, but until they do it consistently on their own, they have not been trained to brush their teeth. Even after they are trained, the parent has a responsibility to ensure their child is doing it the right way. Finally, you need to do some soul-searching. Your flinch response here is the place blame upon the little guy.
