@cmnr8487 Well hats off to the conservatives. They said they would go after all the “illegals”, and they are doing it. Yay trump, right?
10
As it should be. We've been NOT paying what it really costs for so long.
7
Otto, I'm "old". There has always been crime that was 'worse' out there. You are trying out a rationalization that has failed millions of people before you. Don't put yourself and those who depend on you in a tight spot.
6
GTFOOH with that smart, logical approach.
5
These people are members of the HOA, and they will have voting rights. Stop acting like an HOA is some random unrelated entity. It's the people, they have the right to vote, and they could have run for office and run the damn thing.
5
Remember when GM made shyte cars in the 80's? Companies are making shyte components and bad designs. Hold your fire for the right target: Trucks are built with shyte design and quality control. THAT is who is making you lose $$$.
3
Some people just don't have what it takes to enter into that situation and survive financially. If one does not understand that they are buying financial responsibility for the common area when they enter an HOA, they do not have what it takes to manage through it. They should NOT buy in an HOA.
3
Hellofalotta more trucks pumping out exhaust than private jets. Like everything else, you focus where the work will make the biggest impact.
2
People are dumb, and they like painting every problem as an us-against-them situation. Dude gets a $100k assessment in the association HE is a voting member of, then says "they"? Crocodile tears.
2
@Neimfeltrite Stop injecting your facts into our hysteria.
2
@bonesrhodes3762 That is correct, however this video is very specifically about a large assessment to fund a CAM that was mandated after 90+ people died.
2
How many people died when that building collapsed?
2
Matthew, you don't think that your IFTA report will betray you?
2
If you are advocating that people remain active and engaged in the association they have a significant financial interest in, I am with you.
2
FALSE. This is the conservatives. MAGA promised they were going to hunt down and deport every "illegal". You ain't fooling NO ONE by blaming this on the DMV. Everyone is aware of the Republican plan to do this.
2
@angelklaine DMV is enforcing the Republican voter’s will. Stop promoting the cat’s paw fallacy.
2
Bingo. These folks were members of the HOA, and could have voted in the way that avoided this. Better yet, they could have run for office and put their own hands on the information and problems. When voting members cry about the association they partially control rings hollow to me.
1
@dixiecyrus8136 Simple: Change the charter to require multiple signatures on every check or transfer.
1
@TheTerryscotttaylor Didn’t your HOA have the power to fire and replace their management company? Ours does, and we did it last year.
1
@TheTerryscotttaylor Not enough people voted in your HOA board election? Sounds like the root of the problem is right there.

@pjevans1830 Sorry, "quickly come up with" something is not accurate. Starting in 1970 the Clean Air Act required the EPA to regulate NOx. in 2000 the gov ran a voluntary retro-fit program. In 2005 the Energy Policy Act gave money to the EPA to loan or issue GRANTS for R&D to reduce NOx and other emissions. The Diesel Emissions Reduction Act of 2010 funded the EPA so they would EPA offer rebates in addition to grants and loans to eligible entities, including any private individual or entity that owns a diesel vehicle or fleet (for costs associated with emissions regulations). The DERA program was re-authorized in 2020 & signed by Trump to run (without changes) through 2024. The people of the USA have been working on this for more than 50 fooking years. You are talking to someone with more than average knowledge of heavy trucks and the trucking industry. You are also trying your damnedest to deflect responsibility from the manufacturers. Quit being a lackey for the manufacturers and STAND UP for the truckers. Demand better designs, and better quality control. And demand clean air.
1
@pjevans1830 Damn dude, that sucks. Believe me: been there / done that. NOx has been a target for more than 50 years, with new legislation coming out every 5-10 years. If the manufacturers were 'caught by surprise', I call bull sh!t. Here is an idea: lobby your Representative to mandate 15 year warranties on emissions equipment. You are carrying the risk of getting caught right now, rather than the billion dollar companies who could and should design and build better systems. Don't let others take advantage of you like this.
1
@matirion Some people just don't understand reality. It's fashionable to bash the HOA without acknowledging that this report is citing a FLORIDA LAW / the collapse as the driver.
1
Leopards ate my face? Could be. Tennessee is a super-majority Republican controlled state.
1
Did it occur to you that one could run for and win election to the HOA / COA? Stop being a defeatist. You CAN have influence over what happens to you.
1
@snap-off5383 The “where” isn’t in play here, only over-all miles and fuel purchased. You expect to see an MPG increase with this mod, right? Have you heard of people getting busted running off-road diesel? The way the feds get a lead is fuel economy out of range. Make the stop, check the fuel, and red= dead.
1
Have you ever been to India? How about Liaoning, China? Speaking of China, have you heard of the CMEP (Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection)? Buddy, you should settle down.
1
@lawrencecarberry1399 "Green" people? Do you dump used motor oil in your front yard? Got your toilets flushing onto the back yard?
1
@DoktorJeep Oh? Still waiting for them to impeach Joe Biden on “day one” when taking over the House. Remember that promise?
1
Also typical person after a special assessment: "I didn't understand what joining a COA/ HOA via real estate purchase would mean. Please someone bail me out!"
1
@matirion No, they didn’t. You are confusing property taxes with HOA dues and assessments.
1
@matirion “…hit with the same kind of bills…”. As this video says, these “bills”are $100,000 assessments. Assessments are not levied by the law. Assessments are levied by HOA / COA. I am sure you meant to say something else, but you didn’t. What are you meaning to say?
1
@matirion Copy and paste from SB4D: “Building safety inspections: SB4D mandates that condominium and cooperative association buildings that are three stories or higher in height undergo a "milestone inspection" of their structural integrity when they reach either 30 years of age and every ten years thereafter or 25 years of age and every ten years thereafter if located within three miles of a coastline.” Soooo……
1
@matirion Copy and paste from SB4D: “ Reserves for maintenance and repair: SB4D requires that condominium and cooperative association buildings that are three stories or higher in height have a structural integrity reserve study conducted every 10 years. The reserve study must estimate the cost of future repairs and maintenance to the building's structural components and recommend the amount of reserves that should be set aside to fund these costs. The association must then set aside those reserves in a separate account.” Maybe read it yourself?

Matt, how much faith do you have in Americans? How about American engineers and factory workers? The problem here is that manufacturers are not spending the time and R&D to end these problems. Are you old enough to remember the FORD PINTO? Americans CAN solve this, if manufacturers get off their asses and improve designs / quality control.
1
@8180634 Matt, you are like many people. You are driving a POS, when you could be driving a durable and lasting machine. That's not a criticism of you. It's not the clean air rules, it's the manufacturers. Hell, we can put a man on the moon, and robots on Mars. Don't tell me we can't design and build reliable and long-lasting emissions equipment.
1
And truck manufacturers will keep making junk that breaks down. And most people will blame the gubberment. When the manufacturers get serious about designing well and applying better quality control, drivers won't be stranded 1,300 miles from home. But as long as consumers are not holding the manufacturers accountable, they will keep selling junk. And Keep selling a lot of replacement parts.
1
@DonFahquidmi Bless your heart.
1
Having owned Freightliners and working on them on the side of the Interstate during rush hour, I'm gonna tell ya this: The quality of builds and design in the entire industry was CRAP. As long as you keep blaming the gubberment rather than the manufacturers, they will keep selling you junk. We have the capability to put men on the moon, and robots on Mars. We could DAMN sure design and build emissions systems that don't strand drivers.
1
@SilverStarHeggisist The way I see it, Truckers are screwing themselves right now. If everything costs "10 times more", so be it. Pass that cost directly to the shipper. As it stands, TRUCKERS willingly take on the risk themselves. They do that by not demanding well designed, long lasting trucks. So when it breaks, the TRUCKERS get fooked. Truckers get fooked 8 days a week, and they will continue to get fooked until they stop accepting shytty trucks. Right now that cost is on truckers, and it should be on the SHIPPERS.
1
@SilverStarHeggisist It sounds like you want to keep this crap hitting the truckers. Shippers, receivers, retailers, and consumers: that’s who should be paying for clean air. Right now truckers are taking ALL of the risk and making too little money for the risks they take. They take a risk when they buy a truck, they take a risk when they except a load, they take a risk when they move their trucks. It’s high time Some of that risk gets shifted to the people who want stuff moved.
1
@SilverStarHeggisist This is a problem that can be solved. Truckers are carrying the risk, and should not be. Clean air is something everyone benefits from. These can be solved, but not without the manufacturers build trucks that last. That’s the key here. We can build artificial hearts, quantum computers, but not reliable emissions hardware? Bull spit.
1
Yeah, especially since you would be one of the voting members of that dumb HOA.
1
Conservatives promised they were going to hunt down and deport every "illegal". Looks like they meant it. Republican super-majority in Tennessee.
