Comments by "BigKandRtv" (@BigKandRtv) on "DeSantis warns Apple about potentially pulling Twitter from App store" video.
I don't align with all your political views, but I do align with this one- so long as we recognize that the root of the problem here is the concentration of power, wealth, and control in a handful of Trillion $ companies, and a handful of billionaires. It's not "Apple then done". All of these massive organizations can give millions to politicians, but you and I can only give politicians our two individual votes. You and I know what happens after that.

@rosifervincent9481 That was legit funny, but we aren't talking about what really matters. We are living in a corporatocracy where a handful of billionaires and a few trillion $ companies can let us down on a whim. All sides of the political spectrum. Apple doing something you like today? Well, three weeks from now they will be doing something you HATE. Elon Musk made electric cars functional? Cool, but in a year or two he will be doing something that could promote political violence. There are tons of problems, but the biggest is the influence, control, and power being concentrated into a few hands at the top. Meanwhile liberals and conservatives argue about how to arrange the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Is Apple the only company you've seen exercising too much influence over our society?

I have bad news for you. You live in a corporatocracy. You CAN'T stop rich people and Trillion $ companies. Any time one of these billionaires changes their minds and goes against you, too bad. Big business has the power in the USA, not you. Not me.

Tessa, if any of this sounds harsh please accept my apology. I would like to point out that politicians serve us, not the other way around. Politicians should thank God for the opportunity to serve the people, shouldn't they? And I think this matters. Trump was given adulation without reservation or condition, and look what happened. Worshiping man corrupts man. Don't do to DeSantis what was done to Trump. Praising a man/woman excessively ruins him/her. If you love someone, correct them- just as the bible says. Hebrews 12: 6-11

@tessaambler8715 Woah, I just saw your family history of service and sacrifice. Now I wonder how you felt when Trump insulted POW's, and insulted Goldstar Families. Did you know that a former president blamed a Goldstar family for giving him COVID? Did you know that Trump refused to let disabled veterans on crutches and wheelchairs participate in a July 4th parade, so General Mattis refused to arrange the parade? There's a lot to unpack here Tessa.

Everyone in this comments section is an idiot, including me. We are here arguing about which flavor of corporatocracy is the best. Trillion dollar companies and a handful of billionaires control our country. And as long as we are focused on arguing over the right flavor or the left flavor of corporatocracy, we are IDIOTS. If you don't like big corporations having this sort of power over our society, what do you want to do about it?

Agree, but isn't the same true about Twitter? Do we really need either one? I am sick of enormous companies having so much influence and control over us. This nation was founded for "We The People", not for some GD giant company.
2
And Twitter, right? Who else? Trillion dollar companies have entirely too much influence over what we see, hear, learn, and do.

@Befree898 If Jones is wrong, why not say that? Why dodge it?
1
@bmfit7 Bret, maybe Jones is sorry the OP was misinformed.

@tessierrr Well, Twitter said that losing Apple store access would be seriously harmful to their business. They said that earlier in the year within an SEC filing. One does not put bad news into a prospectus unless the company feels it's really really a threat. Also, if it didn't matter would Musk bother complaining about it? He seems very busy, so I assume he wouldn't waste time on something that does not matter.
1
I would not cry one tear if every social media platform (other than YT) fell off the face of the Earth tomorrow. These giant companies have too much power and control over our nation. I think Musk is an idiot, and Apple has the right to drop anyone they want. But the bigger problem is that these huge companies have too much power over all of us, left, right, and center. Red, Blue, and Purple- none of us benefit from having so much control in the hands of so few people and companies.
1
Market forces? Bud, the market forces of the last 20 years PUT US IN THIS SITUATION. Trillion dollar companies have all the power, and politicians care more about the next big corporate donation than us. Market forces have limits, one of which is the eventual consolidation of power and wealth.
1
@ripvanrevs mmmmmm, potato chips! I am left. I am progressive. And I absolutely agree that Trillion dollar companies and a handful of billionaires have control over our nation. I think conservatives agree. So what should we do about this?
1
@jim4690 We are on the same page. We need to stop treating politics and the governing of this nation like a football or basketball game where we are loyal to our "team" no matter what. The ideas matter, the plans matter, the priorities matter, and integrity matters. The color of the uniform really isn't important. Having said that, I am doing my second consecutive straight party vote for (D) in 2024. I must punish Republicans for letting our Capitol be attacked, then making excuses and shielding those responsible. Never in my lifetime have I seen corruption and treason 1/10th as bad as this.
1
@jim4690 sure. These are rough estimates. NPR 5%, PBS 5%, MS, NBC 10%, Fox News 20%, New York times 5%, Midas Touch Network (YT) 30%, The Young Turks (YT) 5%, I spend about 5% of my news consumption time on Congress Dot Gov. Looking at legislation which the media has misrepresented and finding the truth. The remaining time is just whatever strikes my fancy.
1
Why stop there? Can't you name some other companies that have exercised control over us? What about Twitter? What about Facebook? what about other trillion dollar companies that have the power to decide for us? You and I give politicians our votes, while Trillion dollar companies make $10 million donations. Who do you think politicians look out for? Me, or the company who gives them ten million every couple of years?
1
@Chris Penfield Exactly.
1
Could I disagree slightly? Politicians serve us, the people. Can we agree that DeSantis is BLESSED to represent the people of Florida? Florida is home to more than 21 million people, and we care about them much more than one guy. DeSantis should be the one grateful first and foremost. Right?

Those tax exemptions- were those made in exchange for Disney directly funding the infrastructure they needed?
