@Teri_B. Sometimes motels / hotels, and sometimes in the trucks. I've slept under a truck in the soft grass once. I've heard many stories about locals providing showers and meals as well. Typically the host utility would plan restorative work to get lodging up and running if they have crews without a place to stay. RE Food: We always took canned food with us when we mobilized, plus a few coolers with perishables. I've had many, many cans of soup that I put on the truck's engine or pony motor to heat while the truck was set up to work. Others showed me that trick, so I am not the only one. The host utility always went well out of their way to feed their crews as best as they can, driving to less affected areas to bring in grub. As for fuel, many utilities have large depots / yards for their own equipment. Some have their own fuel storage tanks and fuel pumps. They don't buy retail when fueling large equipment. They will often let their contractors and loaned teams fuel at their station, usually until fuel supplies are reestablished. The equipment is dependent on what is needed. Line, poles, guy wires, and routine fixtures typically didn't cause delays, but large transformers can have a lead time that results in some delays.
