Ask any Trump supporter. 46.9% of voters voted Trump. What this means is that approximately 46% of the nation will NEVER approve of Biden. That has an effect on the poll, reducing the construct validity proportionally with respect to the number of 'never Biden' respondents. This changes the POSSIBLE maximum approval rating. That number is approximately 54%. This means that if Joe is at 38% of a possible 54%, he has a favorable approval rating. If he were to get to a 54% approval rating, that would be as high as is possible to go. Not understanding what the data means is how so many MAGA were stunned that Trump lost in 2020.
