  18.  @Supras111  Thanks, that helps clarify your position for me. Here is what "the objective" is to me, and what that looks like: For me, the objective is for WE THE PEOPLE to have at least a say in who gets elected to govern us. That means our vote, and that vote is counted and included in the totals. To me, the vote is the ONLY actual control we have over what laws are forced upon us, so without a vote that counts we are nothing but plebes. And what that looks like to me is that our vote does get counted and included, even if we weren't perfect in casting it on time. If the mail is slow, I still think our votes should count, within limits. For me that limit is as close to the certification time as practical. So maybe one or two days before the deadline to submit electors?

  19.  @Supras111  I appreciate you talking substance and position here. Reasonable debates are what we need. 👍I think what you say is correct, but not on-point. Yes, missing your Dr. appt will mean you have to reschedule, but you aren't barred from getting medical treatment for the next 4 years like missing a vote. As for missing a sale, I don't see buying a discounted dishwasher as being equivalent to having a say in who you are governed by. I'm OK with being excluded from discounts, but not getting to vote is a much bigger deal to me.

  20. @ Yeah. That’s the difference between our positions. For you the more important outcome is to penalize those who are less than perfect. For me the more important outcome is for people’s votes to be counted if they are received before the results are certified. In simple terms, you are a conservative, I am a liberal.

  21.  @Supras111  That’s a fact, and I agree. Some of those rules are fixed in place, like gravity and the first law of thermodynamics. There’s no changing those. But there are many rules that we do control. Ballot counting is one. I want every vote counted so long as it can be done by the certification deadline. And we have the power to make and change that kind of rule. And at the end of the day I like people better than I like rules. I was once a person who loved only the rules, but over the decades I started seeing rules as servants to people, not the other way around.
