Vets will now get health care for exposure to burn pits. Billions for road and bridge repair. Incentives for microchips to be made in the US. Incentives for mining in the US. Incentives for building cars in the US. Lower prices for some Rx. Tax burden being shifted to the rich and ultra rich. I could go on.....

If they didn't help with college, those parents just didn't put the needs of their kids ahead of their own? Everyone was born to parents who are just as capable as yours? Do people whose parent(s) who have substance addiction and die early not matter? Did they chose the wrong parents to be born to? Do you have the capability to imagine something other than what you have experienced?

I consistently speak on behalf of veterans, first responders, poor people, law enforcement, and victims of violence. 4. I consistently speak out AGAINST people who oppose helping middle and low income people. for example, the people whose parents couldn’t pay for their college for their kids like I did. I don’t want or expect any sort of refund. I had the money, so I paid my kids college. People who don’t want the poor to be helped SUCK!

You had privilege that you acknowledge, while you declare 'Help for me, but none for thee.' @valstewart6661 You misunderstood. I paid for my kid's college, and it is complete. I don't want a refund, nor am I "entitled" to one. I could pay, so I did. If my kids took the attitude that the original post did, they would greatly disappoint me. My kids appreciate what I did for them, and they know not everyone has a parent who can. They would not tell those who are less fortunate that they oppose help for people whose parents couldn't pay.

@valstewart6661 Bad analogy. A car is personal property, it is a durable good, and it is consumable. It benefits only you, or someone you loan it to. Education is both personal intellectual property, AND a community benefit. It is not consumable in the sense that it does not wear out. And the very nature of education is that it brings value to our society, and our nation's economy. Your car will not keep us ahead of China, but education will. So no, I will never support paying for your car loan, but I do support paying for some of your education.

No, what Skydiver should apologize for is trying to denigrate others who might also get help like Skydiver did. It is hypocritical.

Your house belongs to you, and is only useful to you and your family. Whereas educated people in the workforce provide benefits for the economy, makes us more competitive with China, and less likely to fall into criminal behavior. Your house is not a logical comparison with education.
