In the moments leading up to the shooting of Babbitt, I heard the rioters shouting "He's got a gun!" or "There's a gun!" multiple times. I heard the word "gun!" at least four times being shouted by the rioters as they warned each other that the police officer had drawn his handgun as a warning to anyone who breached the door and tried entering the corridor he was defending. But despite those multiple warning shouts, Ashli Babbitt decided to breach the door by going through the broken window. Why?
