  5. Casting an older actor as the Doctor sort of in a way fits into the continuity of the show! Because there's a line in the episode, "Flesh and Stone" where the 11th Doctor says to River Song, "River Song, I could bloody kiss you!" in which she replies, "Yeah. Well, maybe when you're older." It's very possible that she was referring to his future self, The 12th Doctor who of course IS older than 11! So, it's highly likely that Capaldi's Doctor WILL encounter River Song! And possibly snog her!

  8. Well, actually he's the same age as William Hartnell was when he started to play the Doctor... Which makes him one of the oldest actors to play the Doctor!

  12. I'm glad too that they've cast an older actor as the Doctor BUT I just can't imagine HIM playing the role! Based on the previous roles I've seen him play (e.g. Malcolm Tucker in The Thick of It or John Frobisher in Torchwood.) he played sort of 'grumpy' characters. Doesn't seem Doctor-like! The Doctor is usually an eccentric character. The only other exception I know of is Peter Davison... I mean, is PCs doctor gonna be like a throwback to that? Grumpy? I just hope S.M has made the right choice.
