A big depend is component wear from heat. All components are derated at high temperatures. The CPU is the most heat sensitive which is why there is complicated heat management in the CPU itself. Some CPUs cost as much to replace as buying another computer. I don't shut down for lunch but do shut down the 12 hours I spend sleeping and watching TV.

My question more is WHY do they send spam over and over. If they are out to get customers, they KNOW after one attempt they have struck out. So why send over and over, only antagonizing the recipient to where they would never buy from them ever!
16
No, change for the purpose of CASH FLOW!
15
And if you get a virus in location 1 one-drive makes sure ALL YOUR DEVICES ARE INFECTED!
13
If you use a home phone (no sim card) things get more secure, if you are capable and aware enough to not click stupid things or fall for phone call phishing.

Leaving the clone in the machine is of course more risky. One advantage of the clone disk is it takes almost no time to get going when there is a fail. (you don't have to restore anything. Just boot and go.)
9
Conspiracies persist only as long as the perpetrators make money at it.
9
The date problem really shows itself when looking for information. I get stuff 10 years old a lot of the time!
9
Got to also remember to update your backup or you may find the damn program "appears out of nowhere" again if you ever do a recover! Now we need a registry cleaner that actually works!
8
It can be even worse than the scenario you gave! I had a friend that suddenly had the terror message, pay or lose everything. He had lapsed on his backup so he was stuck! He is fairly well off so he gave in and wired the money to the criminal. The criminal sent the key BUT IT DIDN'T WORK! Even with the key the files did not revert to normal! Of course the criminal disappeared.
8
You are going hysterical.
8
The free trial software is OK IF there is a way to remove the software from your computer after the fact if you decide you don't want it. McAfee antivirus is easy to download but if you decide you don't want it there is almost no way to get rid of it! Doing the normal control panel uninstall doesn't remove all of it. There still are popup ads that are impossible to remove unless you are a guru! I had to go to my backup copy to totally get rid of that crap!
7
And make SURE you remember your recovery question answers! If you forget them you can lose youor account. I lost my ATT account because I forgot the answers to my recovery questions!
7
The one thing that you MUST determine is YOUR OWN SUCKER susceptibility. Some people can be suckered very easily while others are not able to be suckered at all. I wonder if most people are actually capable of evaluating their own sucker-ability!
6
I'll stick with my good ole windows 7. No screwing around with updates or support or anything else!
6
Interesting, but mainly makes me feel safer.
6
Really weird is you can run a certain set of programs twice (starting from boot and pressing keys exactly the same order) and look at the processes and they are different!
6
It has to be able to access the drive. If the drive controller on the drive itself has failed, you are finished.

IT DOES HAPPEN! I lost my ATT account by a screw up in passwords! AND forgetting my security question answers! (I never had to use them so why remember them!) :) I had tried so many times to access my account that it locked me out. I couldn't get my password because I had forgotten my SQA. ATT customer service said they had no way to break into the account! I had to create a whole new account with the dozens of people I had business with. And I was in my home computer room the whole time, not even in the jungles of Africa! (original cause of problem was a hardware fail of the main C drive. And my backup would not load! UGH! )
5
Yes, I have graduated from no factor up to 15 factor authorization! :)
5
The HD in my security system has been running 24-7 for right at 3 years now, still recording fine!
5
Newsmax and Sky News in Australia. I myself will stick with cat videos.
5
It's hard to imagine people being confused at this process! Stupid seems to be the new norm!
5
I set the spam blocker over and over but still get the loads of junk emails. It is all done by bots. The blocker works for a few day but a week or two later it's back to loads of them. What I wonder is if the spammers ever get any responses that result in money.
5
Interesting. When A.I. gets hold of this technique I suspect there will be websites you will be able to use to automate the procedure.
5
You are not being totally honest here! Everyone with any experience at all KNOWS you get the ads first, and then you scroll down to the "search results." What I despise is the search result: "the 10 best coffee makers" which are not in the least the ten best! They are paid to put a certain coffee maker first with glowing reports.

So this means ANY folder can be emptied without warning? The download folder is no different at all from any other folder. Indeed, you can set the download destination to any folder you like. So if files are disappearing you are doing something dumb.
4
I'm going to become a hermit! I'll be safe from all those bad old data harvesters!
4
I notice this too when doing video post production when the mess of cuts are being made into the final video. I am using a fast I5 3ghz computer with plenty of memory. I never see it running even close to full cpu usage. (process explorer)
4
Mine was boring but exactly what I wanted! I have a second computer I use on the dark web!
4
That leaves me out! I don't even know what Microsoft authenticator is!
4
Acronis Perfect Image works but is VERY confusing to use!
4
You forgot to mention cookies! But why would most people want to hide. My paypal and amazon know me so I don't have to type in my password and I.D. any more. Of course anyone that gets to my computer could wreak havoc but I live alone so nobody else has access.
4
Don't forget your security question answers! I lost my ATT account because of that mistake!
4
Keep in mind that each time you stream it counts for data used off the internet plan you have paid for. When you exceed the plan maximum data amount, the price you pay goes up. You can thus get to the "free" limit and then have your bill increase for each stream. On the other hand, once you have the videos stored on your hard drive you can watch it as many times as you like without your bill going up. If you have an "unlimited" plan you are home free. You are already paying the maximum price for your service
4
The updates are malware! :)
4
You forgot to mention "try sending the email again." Sometimes the error is in the sending rather than the email itself, which may be OK.
4
@MichaelDomer Yes, I know that but if you have ever opened one of the high capacity drives to look at the guts you see it is not going to be a picnic. I am a skilled technician and have the tools to do the job but I would only attempt it on the most critical data. Just not worth the effort!
3
@WavzonRox39 I guess I am old school. The systems I have worked on require a jumper change (physical access) to change the rom to write mode. I guess from your question there are systems now that can be remotely changed. Quite risky I would think!

TOR.

What is surprising (to me) is how difficult it is to find these "security risks" of say windows 7, which has not had support for years. Something you can actually test on your computer to see what it takes to defeat it.
3
This is why huge solid state drives are not wise to store critical data. A file will not be overwritten until the entire drive is full and the beginning is then being overwritten. A full format takes care of this by writing a pattern to the entire drive.
3
Ah, the stability of Windows 7. This got rid of the main problems of XP but still now is a nice capable system. Windows versions after that were money grabs to avoid as long as possible. Ask yourself, can I use my computer WITHOUT any internet! (this CAN happen!)
3
I have never used facebook ever! It's obvious that I HAVE NO USE FOR FACEBOOK AT ALL! OR TWITTER, OR.....OR.....OR.... But don't take my youtube away!
3
VPN

Yea, I have suspected ASK LEO is an A.I. generated channel! Nobody could possibly look like.....he, he, he, he!
3
A irrelevant question: Do you have a video of how you made the crash bang you use in your opening? I'm so curious as to what you did to make such a unique opener!
3
This is why Acornis is so useful! They give you a bootable CD recovery disk, which has the complete recovery program on it. Windows does not have to be present to do a restore.
3
You CANNOT remove the Mcafe trojan that constantly pops up "reminding" you to renew your subscription. NEVER EVER TRY Mcafee virus software without a full system backup first! The only way to get rid of it is to pull up a backup from before you tried it! WARNING! If you are going to try that software, make a full system backup FIRST! (keep that backup separate so it is not overwritten by later after the fact backups!)
3
That exact shit just started happening to me! I couldn't find who was sending it because the "from" address was spoofed. (came back as non-existent) I even tried to "buy" the product they were "advertising" but all attempts ended up with error 404. Hormel can't hold a candle to these people when it comes to making spam!
