  1. They weren’t years away. In 2008 summit US heavily supported Ukies in NATO. Back then the EU was against: France, Germany etc. The good old Europe. But with anti-Ru sentiment, LGBT oppression, this time the EU would probably have voted “yes”. But the war in Ukraine is as Blinken said not only about NATO. He presented it as “Ukraine should be part of Ru in one way or another”, but it is rather like Vietnam: a part of Ukraine loves Ru and wants to be with it and an another part doesn’t. US backs these who doesn’t, and helps them to overthrow presidents elected by the entire Ukrainian nation, leaving no other thing to do to Russians to support the part which is pro-Russian.
