  1. Wouldve been top 5 if hed taken a year off and come back down from heavyweight. He put on a huge amount of pure muscle for one fight, then immediatley dropped it again

  2.  @jay7949  I dont think he needed to retire. just give his body time to recover instead of putting on and losing 30lbs of pure muscle in less than a year. Once he moved back to LH his fast twitch muscles had been affected, so he didn't have the stupid fast reflexes he used to. If he'd let his body get to the right weight more slowly and given it more time to recover and adjust, he could have had a few more years instead of getting KOd by tarver. The Calzaghe fight is one of my favourites in all of boxing history, but its sad to see roy get out worked so bad by a fighter who had broken hands and was roughly the same age, despite being a huge Calzaghe fan myself. Sky did a interview with the world champions of the golden age of super middle (Calzhagie, Rjj, Eubank, Collins and some other bloke) and roy was speaking to joe about the fact joe was undefeated, and the whole reason roy went to get HW is because he was no longer undefeated due to his DQ loss and wanted a record, so went after the HW title. It wast a carefully planned career move, but a attempt to cement himself in the record books for hs drive to becoe great.

  3.  @shinske3564  Roy continued for far to long. He only retired in 2018. He still has one of the greatest careers ever but the last 15 years of it tainted his overall legacy somewhat

He just spent far too long and ended up tainting it by being in the ring with people who wouldn't even dream of sharing a card, never mind a ring with a prime Rjj. Look at Lennox Lewis for a prime example. Best HW of his era, beat every man in the division who didn't run from facing him, beat every man he faced, destroyed high level opposition, then beat the best of the next generation. Then he retired. No fights with hype jobs. No binmen. Rjj is like Holyfield.2 of the best ever who just couldn't let go

  5.  @elijahwilliams3728  Yeah, and then made him cry in the rematch. What did mike do to Douglas? Lennox beat every man he faced, fought everyone except bowe, and that was out of his hands. He was the best fighter of one of the best eras of HW, he beat the best of the next generation in vitali, and was the last undisputed HW champ. Not some rapist who beat a pensioner and a bloated Light Heavyweight for idiots to watch clips (and only clips) of him KO people like peter mcnealy and see him in the hangover and call him a GOAT. Was barley top 5 of the 90s, never mind GOAT material. Lennox was the best boxer at HW for more than a decade in a hyper competitive era. Mike was the best boxer for 3 years at the end of a weak era
