To note - Argentina's public sector isn't like your public sector - like Venezuela with the PDVSA oil company - it was often used to buy votes or political favours in exchange for a job. Many Gulf countries do the same for their citizens in putting them in extremely comfy, low work demands public sector jobs - but those Gulf countries can get away with it due to essentially their majority migrant workforces. *This does not imply all public sector jobs everywhere are 'comfy'* - In reality, in most nations, they are often underpaid, understaffed and overworked.

The only reason you see strong student movements all the time is well........ the students just have more free time LOL. There are many working class people who often share the same political views as the students but just aren't as visible in the media because well....they are working.

and it'll be the same next week in Australia LOL - with similarities - Unlikeable, uncharismatic right wing leader promoting Trumpism, and then trying to distance themselves when Trump went a bit too crazy but everyone sees through it. And like in Canada, the main leader is in danger of losing his marginal seat LOL - C'MON DO IT VOTERS OF DICKSON (Yes that's the name of the electorate the right wing leader is in and aptly named)

You checked your phone too. Don't lie.

This is copy + paste for New Zealand right now unfortunately with them electing their most right wing government in 25 years. In New Zealand's case, a lot of the stuff was literally on their website *don't know if to laugh or cry*

@markmuller7962 Yep, We call our right wing leader 'Temu Trump' LOL

@oldsenpai4337 and you think the Conservatives would have been better? LOL - Just because one is far from perfect, doesn't mean you should vote for the worse option.
75
@piekay7285 As stated - IT IS NOT.
69
@oldsenpai4337 as I said - and you think the Conservatives would have been better? LOL - Just because one is far from perfect, doesn't mean you should vote for the worse option.

This pretty much and it speaks to the Japanese 'politeness / losing face' psyche.

@feelincrispy7053 you might not hold the same views, but it is an accurate GENERAL view

you forgot to mention the importance of "trimmed mean" and one-off occurrences and how one-off occurrences bump up the general inflation figure. e.g. Petrol prices also collapsed as cities locked down last year, and have since returned to pre-COVID levels. There were also big jumps in the prices of some fruit and some vegetables due to a shortage of pickers and heavy rainfall. They are also best seen as one-offs. The “trimmed mean” measure of so-called underlying inflation used to see through transient influences, was only 1.6% for example in Australia (vs the generally reported 3.8%). It’s a better guide to what is going on.

OMG, a new 'Fall of Civilizations' episode coming soon! I love Brits like you and them explaining stuff :D

@saulgoodman2022 and you think the Conservatives would have been better? LOL - Just because one is far from perfect, doesn't mean you should vote for the worse option.

3:25 - 3:40 - This is what cult of personality (on both sides), gerrymandering and destroying the public education system does.

Turkey is VERY much different and an anomaly due to the the central government having power to govern monetary policy, when in other countries they don't. There's a literal reason why they don't as it means people who don't know economics like Erdogan, can't wreck the economy.
14
1 - It is not the whole dollar amount that counts in debt, it is it vs the size of the economy and how trustworthy you are that you will pay it back. Hoser's 'who has the most debt' video explains this well (with memes too) and he studied economics in university. 2 - Singapore does this perfectly fine and also a lot of people do this. It is similar to 'margin trading'. Once again, people are ignorant of how finance works and/or economics.
14
@Talisguy or both. Take out the word 'economic' for 'general carnage' and it is perfectly correct.
14
the stock market graph is more accurately going down eh LOL

I'm sure this comments section will be very civil indeed.

Ironically, you're painting the wrong narrative. In reality, it is just standard geopolitics in pure pure self interest. And that includes the Pacific Islands. The Pacific Islands aren't 'weak' 'damsels in distress' that needs saving from anyone. In fact, in reality, they have greater power more than ever and deliberately play the bigger powers against one another for that pure pure self interest. I studied South Pacific geopolitics, with a focus on Chinese relations. - SUPER interesting stuff and the history of it. Basically the West fell asleep from the early 2000s to the mid 2010s, thinking it was 'their backyard' and are paying for it now.

As much as it sucks for the Japanese (and South Korean and EU) economy and companies, time to wait a few months to a year for those new car prices to plummet due to now oversupply.

Egyptian Army: "Can I join you?"

5:58 - 7:00 - 'without a great deal of diplomatic clout and so on' - As I stated before, The Pacific Islands aren't 'weak' 'damsels in distress' that needs saving from anyone and painting this picture ignores the history of Pacific Island nation geopolitics. In fact, in reality, they have greatest diplomatic clout now than they ever have had and have always deliberately played the bigger powers against one another for that pure pure self interest. I studied South Pacific geopolitics, with a focus on Chinese relations. Not to mention the Solomon Islands' historic unrests is FAR more complicated than just the people recognising one China over the other.

If you work in a corporate job in any sort of leadership position or in a regulated industry, you have strict guidelines surrounding gifts, no matter how much it is, due to conflict of interest / decision influence, even is subconscious.
7
see my comment, you know nothing in reality.
7
as stated, you are projecting your own ignorance of basic economic principles.
7
because the dynamics are very different regarding the role of the state in Argentina. And I am very anti neoliberalism.

@juliansmith4295 wouldn't need it. the polling is different from Canada and its a far more fairer voting system in Australia, the left wing is strongly favoured to win, it's just by how much and by how much the Greens and the independents influence that. Yes, due to Australia’s far fairer voting system, third parties and independents are much more influential and there's been a strong movement towards them as voters reject the two main parties in their preferential vote (Australia has preferential STV voting)

and you think the Conservatives would have been better? LOL - Just because one is far from perfect, doesn't mean you should vote for the worse option.
6
not gonna lie, that username is amazing.
6
Meanwhile next week, you'll get to see how a civilised voting system works in STV preferential voting in Australia - and you'll also get to see another rejection of our 'Temu Trump' and 'Go Trump, get Thumped' episode 2 LOL - and you might even see a repeat of the right wing leader losing his own marginal seat LOL (MY GOD PLEASE LET THIS HAPPEN)
5
2 in 2 weeks baby!

Go Trump, get thumped LOL

3:50 - 'infrastructure is almost too good' - Yeah, the 'tofu dreg' construction projects would like a word about that. What this video fails to mention is Chinese provincial governments cannot issue government bonds to fund debt like Western state governments can. Specialist China current events channels like 'China Insights' go into far more depth into the issue than this rather surface level video.
