Gas usage in the grid is plummeting off a cliff LOL (because it's WAAAAAAAAAY too expensive, even vs coal). - You know we have public real-time stats of the grid these days mate? Gas will only be used to plug intermittent gaps and this is only because we don't have enough batteries and/or pumped hydro and/or CSP.

@ China’s solar DRAWFS it’s nuclear. It isn’t even close. Yes, gas will be used for peaking power, but that is only because of a lack of batteries, which inject into the grid faster AND cheaper for peaking power purposes, and geography as in Australia does not have enough pumped hydro to stores excess solar. The amount of gas really depends on night wind, particularly from South Australia feeding into the rest of the grid via interconnects to VIC (Hayward) and to NSW (new one starting this year). Renewables already are the majority source during the day. It is the Aussie rooftop solar miracle in reality.
