It's 'volunteers' in the sense that there's a reason why free / cheap education and healthcare, or at least the promise of it, is gated behind the armed forces in the United States. Don't kid yourself.

In Australia here: This is highly incorrect. Surveys state again and again Australians on all sides of the political spectrum care about the environment and climate change, however it was the previous right wing Morrison government that didn't care (and right wing state level government in New South Wales)

@dariang4725 That said, recently, incompetence by the US regarding this has been a thing e.g. Jan 6th, Trump's near assassination. Never underestimate incompetence. All intelligence agencies have f*cked up due to sheer incompetence or been blindsided and didn't see a thing coming.

In Australia here: that ship sailed for Australia in the 1970s due to coal industry lobbying and propaganda. It is far more cost effective to implement solar. Nuclear takes too long to build, meaning more bridging by fossil fuels, negating any environmental or economic benefit.
