Roman’s accent is mixed light Russian and general American. His Russian comes out in certain stressed parts of words (for example, the ‘ee’ when he says ‘speech’ or that Roman stresses the ‘a’ in ‘accent’ more than most English speakers, who stress the ‘c’s more) more but it is far from stereotypical. The way Roman stresses the ‘i’ in ‘shit’ is quite Russian. As are the ‘ache’ sounds in ‘make’ and ‘Patreon’. I’ve been told I pronounce foreign words and names better than other English speakers because I pay attention to these stresses. Having grown up with Cantonese as a first language, you have to pay attention to these stresses and tones.

Simon Whistler, an English guy, does a better stereotypical strong Russian accent (when he tries and it isn’t in an obvious joking way) than Roman, an actual Russian does!
