Comments by "ChineseKiwi" (@ChineseKiwi) on "Why Australia Doesn’t Make Their Own Cars" video.
the labour cost was never an issue and as this video states, without heavy market protections, Australia's car industry would have died in the mid 70s as it was too small of a market. Actually watch the video.

@KaiShanIV other factors like distance from large markets, both end product and parts wise, were bigger factors than any production issue. Yes, they were unproductive but larger factors were those.

thank you! Someone who isn't super bogan and knows what they are talking about! Holden was always awful in build quality, but gotta get that bogan brand loyalty / psuedo-patriotism!

@UJCentral I live in Australia smart guy. The unions were never the issue as stated very well in this video. And it states all the actual reasons. Not to mention Holden's were utter shit quality wise from Day 1 vs overseas competitors that were stifled due to 45% import tariffs.
1
@SpankMyFace you know nothing about that tax. That tax is more of a sales tax at the point of sale, and most new cars are far below that coat. Nice rant though.

@KaiShanIV so you agree it was far more the protections, in which the Aussie car industry would have died in the mid 70s without them? Are you seriously wanting neoliberalism and wage suppression?
1
@KaiShanIV so you literally agree it was mainly the overprotection, resulting in massive inefficiencies, including being far away from cheaper produced parts? What are you on about then? I live in Australia. This is a gaming name I have used for 20 years.
1
@KaiShanIV and you literally agree, that smaller populations resulting in duopolies and monopolies like in NZ then? The NZ car industry was far more notorious for being an overprotective pile of garbage producing garbage quality cars.

he's talking to a global audience. The word 'ute' is very much only Aussie and Kiwi slang.
